East-facing pediment on eastern gopura located of the middle enclosure
The image shows the east-facing pediment of the gopura that stands on the east side of the middle enclosure of the Banteay Srei Temple complex located 16 miles northeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The bas-relief on the pediment depicts an unknown deity sitting on top of Kaala, known as the time monster often associated with Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, Shiva is the time-keeper of the universe because he controls the time cycles by creation, preservation, and destruction.

As you can see from the image, decorative foliage covers the rest of the pediment.
