Ephesus: A Roman Terrace House

A Roman Terrace House
The image shows the ruins of a residential unit known as Roman Terrace House built on a hilly slope located in front of the Hadrian Temple on Curetes Street in Ephesus, Turkey. This area has three terraces with six residential units. The restoration of these units is underway.

The Roman Terrace Houses were owned by rich Romans of that era. Even though the facades of the houses were ordinary compared to the other buildings in Ephesus, the interior decoration was exquisite. As you can see from the image, the walls are covered with paintings and frescoes and floors paved with mosaic.
