Tomb of Agamemnon – Inside view
The Tomb of Agamemnon, a bee-hive type tomb, is located near the Mycenae citadel in Peloponnese, Greece, and dated between 1350 and 1330 BCE.
The chamber the Agamemnon Tomb is a dome with a diameter of 14.5 meters and a height of 13 meters. Considering the time period in which it was built, the construction of the dome is considered a great engineering feat.
Also known as the Tholos tombs, the bee-hive tombs were prevalent in the Peloponnese Peninsula in the late bronze age. They get their name because of the dome-structure and their resemblance to the beehive.
