Theatre of Dionysus
Situated on the foothills of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, the Theatre of Dionysus was built to honor Dionysus, the god of plays and wine. The theater was in existence since 6th century BCE but underwent many modifications. In its current form, it could seat as many as 17,000 people. The Theatre of Dionysus is believed to be the birthplace of Greek tragedy.
