Sculptures from the east pediment of Temple of Zeus
The image shows the remnants of the sculptures that were part of the east pediment of the Temple of Zeus, which is located in the Sanctuary of Olympia in Greece. The sculptures were restored from the fragments excavated near the Temple of Zeus, and are on display at the Olympia Archaeological Museum.

According to Pausanias, the Greek historian who visited the Temple of Zeus in the 2nd century BCE, the eastern pediment portrayed a scene in which the gods and people were observing a chariot race that was about to begin. The chariot race was between Oenomaos, who was the King of Pisa, and Pelops, who was a suitor of Hippodameia, the daughter of Oenomaos.
