Abduction of the Lapith Women
The image shows the remnants of the sculptures that were part of the west pediment of the Temple of Zeus located in Olympia, Greece. They were restored from the fragments excavated near the Temple of Zeus, and are now on display at the Olympia Archaeological Museum.
The theme of the west pediment is the fight between the Lapiths and Centaurs. The restored structures portray the abduction of the Lapith women by the Centaurs.
