Wharepuni
The image shows the model of a communal sleeping house known as wharepuni built in the reconstructed village of Pikirangi, which is located in Te Puia, Rotorua, New Zealand.
The Maori built wharepunis as guesthouses, some of which with underground tunnels for guests to escape in case of an enemy attack.
