Lake Wakatipu in the South Island of New Zealand

Lake Wakatipu
Shaped like a reversed N, the Lake Wakatipu is the longest lake in New Zealand. But area-wise it is the third largest because of its narrow arms.

Lake Wakatipu is located in the Otago region of South Island. The water flows into the lake in the northern end from the Dart River and flows out of the lake from the Frankton arm through the Kawarau River in the southern end.

The panoramic view of the lake shown in the image was taken from Bob’s Peak near Queenstown.
