The Andes Mountain range passes through the Cuzco region. The image shows the Andes Mountain peaks near the Machu Picchu site and the town of Aguas Calientes located on the valley between the peaks and on the banks of the Urubamba River.

Also known as Machupicchu Pueblo, the town of Aguas Calientes is about 4 miles from the Machu Picchu archaeological site. This is where the visitors stay overnight and take the bus or walk to the Machu Picchu site.
