An Island with a Mangrove Tree
Captured during the Abbakka Queen Cruise, this image shows a small, low-lying sandbar island in the middle of the Gurupur River near Mangaluru, home to a single mangrove tree (Avicennia officinalis), a species commonly found along the estuaries of Mangaluru. Its roots spread toward the water’s edge, holding the sandbar in place.
Along the far bank, a continuous line of coconut palms is dotted with small houses and a few fishing boats, offering a glimpse of everyday life along the estuary.
