Frescoes in a Roman Terrace House
Owned by rich Romans, the terrace houses were built on a hill in front of the Hadrian Temple on Curetes Street. Many of the houses are currently being restored. The three terraces in the restored area house six residential units. Even though the facades of the houses were ordinary compared to the other buildings in Ephesus, the interior decoration was exquisite. The walls were covered with paintings and frescoes and floors with mosaic.
The image shows an arch inside a terrace house decorated with paintings.
