The image shows a section of the bas-relief carved on the inner walls of the balustrade of the corridor surrounding the inner sanctum of the Shiva Temple in Prambanan located 11 miles northeast of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It depicts a scene in which Hanuman is visiting Sita in Lanka, an episode based on the Hindu epic Ramayana.
