Captured from the south tower of Porto Cathedral, this aerial view looks out over the heart of the cathedral’s cruciform plan. Covering the nave is the stone-tiled roof, its flying buttresses visible along the edges, distributing the weight outward and down. The roof extends to a white-plastered structure, which marks the crossing, flanked by the transept arms.
Beyond the cathedral, the view shows the terracotta rooftops of Porto’s old town extending toward the Douro River, with the Ponte da Arrábida in the distance.
