The image shows the interior of Cave 1, the first of the four rock-cut caves of Badami in Karnataka, India.

At the far end is the entrance to the garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) and flight of steps leading to it. The Cave 1 temple is dedicated to Shiva and a Shivalinga is carved inside the garbhagriha.
